I run a fictional league.. and I also play fictional leagues..
I had a top rated pitcher that was 26 years old. His rating and talent were very high. He got a season ending injury (can't remember what it was)... but the next season.. his ratings dropped drastically, and his talents did too. I never noticed this in OOTP3. Is this supposed to happen in OOTP4? I didn't like it at the time.. but that is VERY real, that does happen in real baseball. Good job if that is supposed to happen. Kurtis CUBL Commish

Yes, it is on the game design. Doesn't happen extremely often but is a nice touch.

I was sort of hoping it would happen a little more
.I often see guys go down for 10-12 months with a serious injury, but they come back without rating, or statictic degregation, and continue on their career. |

In my opinion, you see more guys come back from injuries stronger than before in real life. Therefore, no rating drop would be evident.
One case I have is Matt Morris. The guy had Tommy John surgery, which used to be the death knell for pitchers. Now he's a Cy Young candidate (well, last year he was, I say he needs two more solid years to establish himself). While it takes longer for guys to get going, some just pick up where they left off, and it happens more often now than before, thanks to extensive rehabilitation programs (not for substance abuse. ; ) ) What would be REALLY neat is if it took a little bit for some players (not all, but some) to get back on track. Maybe play really bad at first, then work their way back into the swing of things. I think that'd be extremely tough to work out in code, but hey, I can dream... Peace John |

It definitely occurs now and then in OOTP4, but it also does in OOTP3. In our Boys of Summer league (while simming with OOTP3), young 25 yr old stud Christy Mathewson suffered a couple of injuries with one being a season ender. His runs allowed rating dropped from one of the league's best (10) to an average pitcher of 8 (keep in mind this was in 1904. His talent ratings also took a hit. He'll have a hard time making it the Hall of Fame now.

I disagree with you on the Matt Morris thing. While he was a Cy Young canidate last year, if you look at his pre injury numbers, they were around the same thing. A lot of pitchers do come back stronger from injuries, then there's Wilson Alvarez, Bill Pulsipher, Alex Fernandez and up until this past year Paul Wilson who all had serious injuries, and haven't been the same since.
