BZ 3149: In game browser won't word wrap help text

This is a problem that is also still present in OOTP 9 as well as today's release of 10.0.7. Using the "use in game browser" choice in the game preferences, the text that is wider than the browser will not wrap to the next line and instead, runs off of the screen.

This is true with my 1600x1200 LCD, 1280x1024 LCD, and my 1360x780 widescreen LCD.

The external browser (Firefox) works perfectly, but it would be much nicer to use the in game browser for my liking.

Hmm, can you give me an example of a specific help page that runs off the screen?

Game Setup\Global Setup tab, press F1. Most of that page after the first few paragraphs runs off of the right side. It starts after "Host & Port" line.

OK, this has been logged as BZ 3149. We'll see if we can get this worked out.

Thanks!

I've fixed this . . . sort of.

The page you specified is fixed. Ironically, there's a separate bug there, because when you hit F1 on that screen, you're getting the "Setting up Your Online Leagues" page by mistake.

At any rate, I've fixed the tables there.

This is a problem with the way I've set up the tables in some of the pages. I don't have time right now to review all 600+ pages of the manual to see where else I've messed it up, but if you see any other pages, let me know!!

BTW, if you set the "Online Features" value in your Preferences to "Use on-line features & content (always download)", then this should be fixed immediately the next time you go to that help page. There is no need for a patch or anything.

Let me know if it works!

"24e6 Auto Play (Simulating Games)" page is a perfect example of pages running off of the screen. It's at auto_play_simulating_games.html. The last week I have found a lot of pages doing this but I did not keep track of each one.

I have the preference set as you suggested so I receive the online help content. It's much slower than using the installed html even with a good broadband connection.

The page you fixed displays fine now, and it's much different content too. ;-)

Thanks for your help and reply. I have had many hours of fun with OOTP games, which I have several versions. This one is excellent!

Yeah, it has pros and cons. It definitely is slower, because each time you hit a help page it has to go out to the server and check if there is a newer version of the help file. On the other hand, that's the only way you can ensure that you get manual updates instantaneously.

I fixed the page you suggested, and am looking into a way to fix these en masse, but for now I'm stuck with doing it manually, so let me know if you see any more!
