loading online league
I'm in an online league, and I download the file without any issues. It updates, but gives me the following error:
" Could not find Historical Database! Please check your database path in the league options" I've looked around and I don't see any league options for me. I've asked the commish, and he said everything looks good on his end. He is actually able to get the file and update without any problems. As are other people in the league. I looked on the forums and I see serveral mentions of this problem, but it seems to be with older version where the Lahman DB wasn't included with the game. Is there some setting I need to change, or something the commish needs to do? Thanks! |

When you download the league file manually and extract it to your folder, you are then able to load OOTPX and load that league file without a problem correct? The error you are receiving is when you try to update the league file from within game?
Or are you getting this error the initial time that you try to open the league file after downloading it manually?

I click on "check for game updates" (I can't remember the exact wording, but its something similar to that) in the OOTP interface. It downloads and extracts the files, confirms that X amount of files were downloaded. I click Ok, and then receive the error the historical DB error. Hopefully I explained that well enough.

If it is downloading via HTTP, can you get the file download URL from the commish and try it manually, as well as manually extracting the file to see if the problem occurs there as well? I am not familiar with the historical DB error (I've usually seen that I think in the case of a corrupted league file), so trying to figure out if there is an issue with that league file (and if so, why it does not affect other users in your league), or if there is an issue with the download of it, or what.

I usually use FTP to get the file, but I did try to go to the Web site and download the file last night. Once the file was downloaded I extracted it in the directory where I had the game saved. If memory serves correct, I didn't receive the error. However, I was unable to make my pick for the draft. There were no list showing the available players, and I couldn't advance (because the baseball icon was greyed out). I'll test this when I get home because I was somewhat distracted last night. I'll also try and get some screen shots if you think that would help.
To correct a previous statement, it is just the commish and I in the league. He is able to download the file without problem. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks again for your help so far Alan! EDIT: I just talked to my commish, and said he thinks there is an option to download the updated files via HTTP though the game. We will try that tonight as well. I had my commish upload the entire game, and then I copied it to my saved_games directory. I was able to load the game without any error messages, so it may have just been a corrupt file somewhere.
Please consider this issue resolved. |
