Diamond Mind 9c or Action Baseball 2009?
I ask this on OOTP board to hopefully get an impartial answer. I play OOTP for fictional play. Thanks. Oh and if you want to elaborate why, I would be grateful

It's been years since I tried Diamond Mind so I don't remember how that was. |

I play Action as well - recently switched over and am extremely impressed. Don't want to get into the specific features too much here since I still use OOTP for fictional play...but, for me, Action was a revelation and really suits my needs for historical play.
Considered DMB a few years ago, but never took the plunge. |

For Replay Id take Diamondmind baseball for historical Id take OOTP.
Diamondmind is more expensive but I love its pitch by pitch and AI. |

Goin with DMB.
Though I am tempted by what I hear about Action and also my good experiences with the football game, I will stick with DMB as I already have season disks for 1941 through 2001. I do have allot of respect for the research and time that is put into producing the season files for DMB as well.
Maybe some day I will give Action Baseball a try.

I don't know how accurate Strat o Matic is, but I used to love playing the board game as a kid.

I love OOTP's flexibility in making whatever fictional universe you want. That's killer.
![]() Over the past two weeks, I've been considering other games for historical replay. Thanks for the thread. One thing that caught my eye at Diamond Mind was what I presumed to be a newer feature, the ability to edit and/or create new players. Somebody over there has actually made an entire fictional league. But, I like the idea of a replay with editable players. Why? Well, I'm the kind of guy who would get into buying the 74 disk and then editing for the 75 season. Does Action offer the edit feature? |

SOM is very accurate. Played for years and you can pretty much count on a realistic representation of players, in the field and at bat. Has the best and most accurate L/R I've seen - not the pretend stuff you get from most other sims. Clutch, Hold, save ratings...all this stuff adds to the game. However, you have to buy the individual seasons at I think around 25-30 bucks a pop.
SOM does not have nearly the GM features of OOTP. I've not played Action or Diamond Mind, so can't give a comparison. And you can't fiddle with ratings, nor can you adjust accuracy. It is a sim in every sense of the term. Last edited by bigMatt; 06-01-2009 at 11:14 AM. |

Styx you have been quite vocal and informitive about how inaccurate OOTP is so, I am leaning towards Action PC for a replay. Have you tried Strat?
