Unhappy Agonizingly slow free agent signings

I'm pretty new with OOTP, so bear with me. I only bought the game about a week or two ago.

Anyway.... Lately, whenever I get to the free agent periods, the signings have been taking well over a minute per day (i.e. 30-45 minutes and then some for the entire 30-day period). This didn't happen in the first few seasons, but now it's utter torture.

Does anyone have idea what is causing this?

[*]I've checked the FAQ, and nothing seems to match this issue.[/list=a]

So, I need some of your wisdom. Please help a newbie.

The longer your career goes the longer it will take to process things. RAM is very cheap and will help you in the long run, so if you want to increase the speed that is the way to do it.

2 Questions: Are many of your clubs having financial problems? Apx. how many FA's are there?

An amazing number of free agents and teams having financial problems may be the issue, as Killebrew points out. I have a 511 RAM PC and just simmed 12 seasons to check this out. Took the game only 15 secs to finish the free agency period in year 13th.

Exactly, just an idea here though. If many teams are having finacial problems then there would likely be a lot more FA's. If all the teams have far too much money they may each be very aggressively bidding each day. I do believe the AI has been tweaked considerably in this regard in the last few patches. By this I mean the AI is more aggressive in offering FA contracts. In the OOL (Markus's league) there is a AI controlled team that seems to make 20 bids per day!

Another idea: If there a lot of players in the league (like 100+ players per organization) then that could greatly slow the FA process down. If there were a lot of players the AI would likely be releasing many of the minor league chaf early on, and this would obviously increase the amount of free agents during the 1st free agency process with the rosters. If you are using the default rosters that come with the game then this would not be the problem.
