Arbitration, Reserve Clause & Free Agency Acuracy!

One thing that's been a sore point with me in every game of this type I've played is the historical inacuracy of When Free Agency started, etc.

Is this something addressed in OOTP 10? Or am I doomed to go through another year of this irritating oversight?..

You can add them any year you want, so you determine your own level of accuracy.

So what you want is for the game to automatically turn free agency on when it's historically due? Something like how it handles historical expansion?

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Well, in 9, when I started a league in say 1901, the game would handle free agency the same way as in 2008...perhaps I was missing something in the settings...

But yes, it would make sense for changes in free agency, the reserve clause, various other changes in the union negotiations to show up like the expansions do.

You can turn it off from the start, and then turn it on whenever you want it to be on.

Yep you can do this in OOTP2009. Just go to the financial settings and where it says "Free Agency: 6 Years Service Time", change that to No Free Agency. You can also turn off waivers, rule 5 draft, etc. from here.
