I want to move a prospect from the rotation to the bullpen

I made a trade for a minor league pitcher, who I want to move from the rotation to the bullpen. My major league team is stacked with starting pitching, I have a couple of elite starting prospects in AAA. But, my minor league system is weak in bullpen prospects.

What is the best way to achieve this?

In the player editor, I see that his endurance is 135, on the 1-250 range.

The best way that I can of to do this is to look at the endurance of some of my relievers, see what is a typical endurance, change Smit's to that and then change his position from starting to reliever.

Or, are there any other suggestions on how to handle this kind of move?

The point in the season that I am at is I am 1 win away from winning the World Series. So, I assume that, anything that I do with him right now would then be in effect for when the ratings are redone on December 31.

My minor league settings are to have my minor league managers handle promotions/demotions and lineups/depth/pitching. So, I need to tinker with him in order to get his ratings to be such that they will abide by my wishes.

Why don't you just put him in the bullpen?

Or do you want to edit him into a permanent reliever?

I handle the majors and delegate the minors to the minor league managers. So, if I put him in the bullpen, my managers are going to see his endurance and overrule my desire.

And, yes, I do want to turn him into a permanent reliever.

You can always use the "force to start at position" option to keep him in the pen.

That was my initial thought, but I only see the 8 non-pitcher positions as my options there.

Just lower his endurance and change his position to MR.

Thanks.

That's what I had initially assumed I should do, but just wanted a second opinion.

I don't think you need to lower his endurance. If you designate him a MR, the minor-league managers will use him as one.

The minor league managers will use him as a starter if they deem him better than any of the other starters at that level. Happens all the time.

I just ran a test and confirmed that Bruce is correct.

I simmed through the 2009 season and Smit pitched in 29 games, all as a starter, even though I changed his position from starter to middle reliever.

I also had another prospect I wanted to move to the bullpen. I also changed his position from starter to middle reliever. That pitcher was given 30 starts and no relief appearances.

Credit your quote

BruceM,

I noticed you haven't credited the author of that quote;

"It takes neither courage nor intelligence to cheer for a team only when that team wins. The true test of a fan's mettle is the same as it is for a player: Were you there when you were needed?" -Ian Wilson

Ian Wilson is a Boston based sports writer, and he was referring to the fanbase of the Boston Bruins, unless I am mistaken.

This happens to be my lifelong favorite quote as a huge Bruins fan, so just giving credit where credit is due.

Peace!

-Jefe
