Interested in reviewing the game....

Hey,

My name is Mark Ortega and I write for a boxing website, ultimateboxingresults.com.

I used to be a die-hard wrestling fan and spent hours and hours playing wrestling simulators, namely Extreme Warfare, which became easily the most successful wrestling sim ever. When my interest in wrestling faded, so did my interest in the simulator.

I have not seen anything quite like that for boxing, and this Title Bout Championship Boxing is intriguing to me. I would be interested in reviewing the game but am wondering who I should contact in order to do that? I was hoping to get a registration key, if just for a week or so, so that I can have full access to the game's abilities in order to write a proper review. If you think there is enough in the trial version of the game to review it, let me know.

Thanks for any help your provide,
Mark

Wonderful! I forwarded this to the developer to be sure that he sees it and responds to you.

Many thanks.

Thank you for the offer to write a review for TBCB! I'll gladly give you a license key for the game, but I need your email address to do that. Please send me an email to andreas@ootpdevelopments.com

Thank you very much for trying to help us its much appreciated by us all. Below is part of a post i did on OOTP boxing forum when people were talking about trying to increase sales of the boxing game. I also used to try to get people to buy the game using an edited version of this, nearly all of the first part of course on other sites. It would be a great help if you could do a review of the game on your site. Of course what you wont see and it makes a big difference to the look of the simulation is the pics of the fighter that we also put into the game thanks to some of the guys on here.

The real problem is good as this game is the average buyer of computer games is not that interested in a pure simulation of boxing. They have been brought up on flashy graphics, first person shoot ups etc etc. and games that scare the **** out of you and loud bangs from the latest speakers. Next to these games our game seems very dull to them. If you really want to make money you have to give the average buyer what he wants. Look at it from the average persons point of view. They download the demo of our game. Then just sit there watching a page full of text strolling down. The names of Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran and fighters like Sam Langford mean nothing to them. After a while of watching pretty much the same text in a few fights. They are bored stiff and look for another game in which they can at least take part in some real time action. No sad to say most people would have no interest in wasting there lives watching text stroll by on a computer screen.

Our small band of boxing lovers see it entirely different, We don't just see the text strolling by. We use our imagination and see the crowd cheering as both fighters make there entrance into the arena. Before the bell even sounds in the game. We see Mike Tyson at his peak pacing up and down in the ring just waiting with hatred in his heart for the man they call the greatest Muhammad Ali in the opposite corner who is waving and playing up to his adoring fans. The text in itself is only part of it, to us we see it as if we were there at ringside. Our imagination does the rest because we understand the excitement that a big fight can bring. The average person who does not follow and love boxing can never experience this in his mind, and therefore most will never fall in love like we have with this game. The mind and your own imagination is so powerful The pictures that you can see in your own head with a little help from a few words can never be beaten, That why so many great books when turned into a film never come up to the expectations that you were hoping for. How many times have you heard people say "Yes it was a good film but i thought the book itself was so much better"

Have to say though that i feel that add on's that will be hopefully coming will perhaps take Title Bout on to another level. and hopefully appeal to more then us die hard old time boxing lovers. I to am a tester on the boxing games and having done a little boxing myself as a young man as well as being a lover of the fight game for more years then i care to remember. I can with hand on heart tell you guys in my humble opinion right now there is nothing on the market at present that comes close to a decent boxing simulation as does Title Bout.

I kind of disagree with you Danny. Yes, there are people that need bells and whistles but most I tried recommending the game to didn't like it because there was no career mode. Look at Greydog's MMA and wrestling games, they don't have anything flashy, and the menu's are sometimes hell to navigate through but people are absolutely nuts about the upcoming WMMA 2. I'm sure TBCB would do much better if it had a career mode (obviously). Even younger people can still get into text sims but you need to offer them some kind of interactivity, and, most importantly, a challenge.

Hello Barkflex
I agree 100% with you on if it was a role play game it would attract more buyers and also have a better chance of attracting the more casual fan. That would be so much better then just watching a fight take place. If your dedicated enough to work at running a universe that also takes the game on to another level and adds a lot more depth to the game. The problem with taking that route is of course it that its frustrating at times for some of us who love boxing to sort out how to run one. Let alone a new buyer or more casual fan. I know the guys on here will help people in that respect to sort it out. But a lot might download the demo watch a few fights and think No its not for me. So they might never come to this site where they could get some help from us and perhaps start to enjoy the game.

The biggest problem though as i see it, is boxing has no where near the following that many other sports have so the wise move is of course if your going to spend time and money on a game it makes sense to do that on a more popular sports game which you can be sure will cover costs and at least make a profit for your company

Put it another way if you and i decided to invest all our money in making a sports game would you pick a boxing game. Remember its your money now. I sure as hell know my answer on that one

Hey guys,

I wanted to say thank you for your words, you have offered a lot of insight into this game for me already and I haven't even browsed through it yet.

I love these kinds of games and always have. I put hours upon hours into Extreme Warfare Revenge and the original series, as well as a few baseball simulators in the past.

This game looks amazing and I can't even begin to imagine the things I can do with it.

As a boxing fan, I also keep an extensive DVD collection mainly covering the past five years. Once I figure this game out, one thing I would love to do is setup a universe based on, let's say, February 1st, 2009 and load it up to mirror what boxing was like on that date, and then use it to simulate real life matchups to go along with my preview articles of big fights.

Hi, Mark. You can also get an idea of what some of us do with the game by browsing the Inside the Ropes forum.

Glad to hear you'll be reviewing the game.

Hola, Mark! If someone is looking for an arcade game, they might as well give TBCB a pass. If they're looking for a game that will create an entire universe for them, they likewise should keep on walking. If they want a career RPG with lots of sights and sounds, they should also forget about TBCB.

Now, if they want a good simulation of prize fighting with realistic results and a load of historical background, some of it almost impossible to find anywhere else, then this is the game for them. And someday, it may even be better than it is now.
