Player ratings

I have just downloaded the demo of OOTP 9
It definitely has great graphical interface
I want to play Historical replays of a single season with 1 team
A few key questions

<LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">When importing season, what actual stats are used to calculate player ratings ie
- I imported the 1964 season, what stats are used
<LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">How do the player ratings specifically tie to player statistics ie
- <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Based on league average? <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Batter
  - <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Contact <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Gap <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Power
  - Eye
  <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Pitcher
  - Stuff
  - Movement
  - Control

When reviewing 1964 Detroit Tigers, I assume for batters contact related to batting average, so Freehan should have highest Contact rating on team, but he does not.
Can you help clarify so I can decide whether to buy game or not?

I am not much of a historical league player, but I am sure game uses the Lahman database for the historical league as default.

However, I am pretty sure there are some other great database available for the game, so you can check this site, and try several other databases before you make up your mind.
