I am not happy how the current finances are working out as IRL much more money is made than what OOTP has.
The first thing I looked at was the average media contract, which is way too low. Obviously teams like the Yankees and other big market teams have a distinct advantage here because they can charge a lot more for local television rights than the smaller market teams. However, the national contracts that are split up evenly among the teams comes out to somewhere in the range of 25-30 million per year, which is then added to the local revenues. Overall I set the average media contract at 55 million, which is about what it averages out to with all those things considered. Secondly, the scouting budget is ridiculously low. I read a few years ago the GM from Cleveland saying they spent about the league average for scouting which ended up being 8.5 million. I adjusted this to add in some other expenses that probably aren't accounted for and set it at 12.5 million. Average attendance per game was set at 32,456 per 2008 attendance figures. Average ticket price was set at 25.40, per 2008 figures, and all teams were reset to charge what their actual 2008 prices were. Shared revenue was set at 24% per the last figure I had. Average coaches salaries was increased a ton to 7.5 million to account for all the other expenses teams have that OOTP doesn't account for like healthcare, front office staff, stadium staff, etc. Player salaries were likewise increased to take into account the average player now makes over 3 million per year, with similar increases in other salaries. I then used MarketCalc to adjust market size for each team to receommended levels, and input fan loyalty as the percentage of seats that were filled in 2008. I am very interested to see how things play out. I will keep everyone updated as to what happens...

I am really interested in the outcome of this test, Matter2003.
Thanks a lot in advance for sharing your ideas!

I have a feeling every team will either go broke or make way too much money. Finances defintely need some work. I'm not a numbers guy but having played 60 years in one league, I have seen a bunch of weird finances.

a lot of teams do make a lot of money IRL tho, so I am not sure exactly how this is different than IRL if it happens...obviously I will be changing things where they need changing if something makes it out of whack...

These are all design decisions made. The financials are not intended to mirror real life structure, all they need to do is work within the game enviroment.
