Argh! (User error)
Twice now I've tried to set up a 32 team league with MLB rosters (4 divisions of 4 teams in each league) and then run a new draft. Both times all of the minor leaguers wind up in the FA pool and only guys on the 40 man rosters wind up in the initial draft. This is after doing all sorts of league setup changes, uniforms, logos, ballparks....
![]() Edit - Are there some .dat files I can shuffle around into a new league file so I don't have to create everything from scratch again? I had had this saved as a template... but only after whatever it was that makes the minor leaguers into being ineligible for the initial draft. Last edited by Kelric; 02-12-2009 at 03:49 PM. |

I was afraid of that.
I think this calls for more wine. |

If you know all the team names exactly --
you can certainly keep all the logos/uniforms/stadiums. don't have to do them again. they are all in your images folder which you can just put into a newly created league folder. and yes, just move over the stadiums.dat file If you have all the team exactly the same it will work fine. the only thing you would have do do over would be naming the teams, import the players, and redo all of your league settings. but I'm not quite sure how the problem came about. I think it's because the majors were viewed as a separate league from the minors, so when you 'release for amateur draft' the minors were not included. not sure how they became free agents though. |

I have been burned so many times, that I now make multiple (external) backup copies of new leagues after each little step.
E.g. *_a_ranTheWizard, *_b_changed_team_names, *_c_ChangedLeagueRuleSettings, *_d_ChangedMarketSizes, *_e_Changed_ballparks,....and I usually get up to around the letter z. This may be anal, but I never regret it when a problem creeps up. I don't lose so much work (like I have done so many times in the past). I just rollback to where I introduced the problem, fix it up and go on. The one nice thing is that making external copies of a brand new league go really quick (I guess before any logs or box scores or player text...). They go much quicker than after I have started playing out the league. But sorry Kelric...this advice is unfortunately too late for you

I may have deleted the minors before hitting 'release all for initial draft.'
I thought I waited for the second try, but I guess not... |

Of course, now that properly released all of the players before deleting the minor leagues, OOTP freezes when regenerating a minor league. Sigh.
