Question about fictional league setup

Just got OOTP for the first time and want to set up a fictional league beginning in 1901. How do I set up my game so that the statistical and financial aspects evolve similarly to the actual major leagues over the years?

Thanks to everyone for all the info on these forums. It has been a big help to a newbie like me!

If you mean "fictional players in the historical setup", this is the way to go.

Tom, welcome to OOTP and these forums.

I am not too familiar with historical play, fictional or not. However, I think I can point you in the right direction.

I believe you need to select 1901 Settings in the Fictional League Creation Wizard (see first screen print). Then you need to look at the Progressing Options in League Setup, Options (see second screen print).

You can also search these forums for more information on these topics, and hope that somebody more knowledgeable than me will post their suggestions here (such as myasu, who posted while I was typing this).

Tom, it is totally untrue that I am more knowledgeable than 1998 Yankees.

Thanks so much to myasu and 1998 Yankees for the replies and the welcome.

The information and links you have provided will certainly get me off and running with my game setup. I can see that I have many options for fine tuning my fictional league.

I'm impressed by the complexity and variety of options in OOTP, and I haven't even started a game yet! I can see the learning process is half the fun.
