How many total games in a season?

If I have 16 teams playing 154 games each, is that 1232 total games in a season?

16X154=2464

Remember it takes two teams to play one game.

Yes, but each game involves two teams, so there are in fact only 1,232 games listed on the schedule for a 16-team league playing a 154 games per team season.

But 2464 games are played. Check Baseball reference. Runs per game are calculated by team for example.

I see what you're saying. I'm not talking about statistically, I'm just asking how many physical two-teams-per-game contests took place.

Thanks to everyone for the answers.

No, 1,232 games are played—check the schedule. Because each game involves two teams, the stats by individual team will amount to 2,464 games. But there are only 1,232 games actually played.

The number of games in a schedule is the number of teams times the number of games per team divided by two.

16 x 154 / 2 = 1,232
30 x 162 / 2 = 2,430
