"Peak Seasons" vs "Remaining Seasons" problem

I am posting this here because I can't figure out if this is bug or what?

When I create an historical league, I have tried doing so using the different settings/methods for creating potential ratings (i.e., "career totals", "remaining seasons", "peak seasons", "remaining peak seasons"). I expect to get potential ratings for each player that are different depending on which of these settings I choose. However, the potential ratings are identical. This is not -- I repeat not -- a scouting issue. I am looking at the ratings in the editor.

I believe that what must be happening is that the game is always using the default setting of "remaining seasons" even if I have selected a different one.

I am using the Mac version of OOTP9 (9.2.3)

I have to give this a bump, in the hope someone will respond. I have tested this many times and always get the same result. Something is broken here, or else I have a serious misunderstanding of what this setting in game creation does.

You need to disable "recalculate player ratings" before starting the game. You can do this in the creation wizard, or in the "options" tab right after importing the league. If recalc is enabled, then the talent ratings will be recalculated too, dismissing the setting of peak/remaining/career because the current ratings get recalculated each year anyway.

Thank you. I wish this was explained somewhere in the wizard or some other likely place: for example, to warn a player that leaving recalc on (which is the default setting I might note) basically negates whatever was choice was made about potential ratings. Especially, from what I can tell, it's too late to fix this once the game is created, if you made the mistake of leaving recalc on when you created the game.
