Questions on fatigue

I have some questions on player fatigue--

1) If a player is given a day off from the lineup, but is later used as a pinch hitter, pinch runner or defensive replacement, does he get any rest benefit from not playing for the whole game or does the fact that he played in the game mean it doesn't count at all towards resting him?

2) If a player is used as the DH, does that count as a day off to help his fatigue?

3) I assume that a team day off has the same effect for a player as giving him a day off while the team is playing. Is that correct?

I'm going to list five threads, going backwards in time, and let you judge for yourself. I think the consensus is that it was changed in 2007 so that " PHing does not tire a player as long as he doesn't play beyond the PH appearance." Here are the threads, in reverse order:

2) If a player is used as the DH, does that count as a day off to help his fatigue?
This question also appears therein. The consensus here seems to be "I can't say for sure but my best guess on what I have seen is that amount of player fatigue is related to the position they play. Catchers on my team seem to get tired more often than other players and my DH gets tired [the] least."

3) I assume that a team day off has the same effect for a player as giving him a day off while the team is playing. Is that correct?
This is the only one that I can answer off the top of my head! Yes!

Thanks

I did feel silly about asking the 3rd question. I was almost certain that I knew the answer, but thought that, since I was asking the other 2, why not throw that one in.

The reason why I asked was the last baseball game I had played was Baseball For Windows, which based position player fatigue solely on number of games played, without any regard to days off. A player who played in, for example, 75% of the amount of games he played in the real season that was being replayed would be just as fatigued if he had played in let's say the last 50 games in a row as he would be if he hadn't played in the past week. I was certain that OOTP used a much better system, but, as I said, I just wanted to confirm it.

My season has been going so well that I'm hoping my luck won't run out and something like assuming that a team day off next week is going to allow me to get a little bit more out of some players earlier in the week, but being wrong in that assumption, just seemed like it could be a starting point for a run of bad luck.

No problem asking that third question - as you pointed out, it may not be as obvious as it seems. I was happy to be able to answer that one directly from personal observation!

As to the others, you often have to test that kind of stuff yourself or, if you want a quick answer, go with the consensus of opinions expressed on these boards. I am pretty confident that the answers that I listed are accurate, seeming as they do to be the majority opinions.

These are good questions that interest me as well, now that I am playing out my games for the first time in a long while. No more speculating whether I could have done a better job than my manager - nobody to blame but me if we lose (or take the credit if we win)! So, I'm glad you asked them. Thanks.
