To buy or not???

I am huge OOTP fan and am currently playing #8. I DLed OOTP9 and am having a hard time convinving myself to get this as I don't see a lot of difference.

I know everyone has different opinions, so if any can give me reasons why to get this that I may be missing it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

To reply to your question indirectly, here's what I said at the end of a thread in which I complained about the frequency of suspensions:

I do like the new scouting, streaks, manager screen, and player list stat filters, however. Also the PbP and news stories are noticeably improved, and I can manage lefty-righty matchups by looking at ratings again. All in all, then, I am still happy with OOTP 9.

Not being an historical player, I did not even list the improvements in that area of play which may be of great importance to you. Now, I own OOTP 8 and if I have dismissed three of the marquee features in OOTP 9 and still I am happy with my purchase, that should give you some idea.

OOTP 9 is a pretty solid game. A little better AI, better development. Those are the big parts that I like. There are some new pages and some good stuff in there that I like but honestly cannot remember right now.

I thought it was well worth upgrading myself.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I like the new scouting I found the scouting very tedious in 2008. Plus like 1998 Yank says the player devopment is pretty good you can see just when to drop the old vets for the young guns. Plus there is the xtra Stat page which shows hot cold streaks etc. In final I think its worth it. Since the last patch most of the crashing problems have been fixed.

If you play out your games, OOTP9 is much improved in the PBP.

All of the "amazing, wow plays" have been made much more realistic and a few more basic play results have been added.

Instead of 5-10 great plays a game, you will have 1-2, which is far more realistic.

The News stories have been expanded and refined...and some errors have been fixed.
