Leagues and Scouting
I have two newbie questions that I can't seem to figure out:
1. I want to create a MLB world league (same set-up), but with fictional players. If I create a fictional league with the MLB world template then I get random nicknames and the information is wrong. For example, it has the Chicago market as "almost non-existent." How do I create a league that is the exact same as the MLB with minor leagues and use fictional players? 2. I have one of the top scouts in the league. He had some of my players rated incrediably high in potential. They were by far and away rated by him as some of the best potential at their positions in the league. I go through one year and then begin the second year. They now are rated by him as awful. A couple of the guys went from four or five star potential to one or one and a half star potential. What gives? How can they change so dramatically? |

1. I would recommend using the MLB quickstart game that comes with OOTP. You need to do some work with ballparks, team colors, logos, and uniforms (Add-Ons Central helps) but the league structure is there for you. Then, in League Setup, you can do the following in order, on every level: Release All Players / Clear Rosters (detour to the Free Agents page after that and Delete All Free Agents - must be commissioner for that), Fill Teams With Fictional Players, then Release All Players and Schedule Inaugural Draft.
2. This is tough to comment on. Scouting is an inexact science and if those players were young when first looked at, it could be even more inexact. Also, I think the designer may have built in the realism of a scout changing his mind about players once he has had a chance to see them play at a higher level than where he first saw them. |
