Strange Ratings(?) After Reinstall

I had played about a third of a season after installing the latest version of OOTP 9 when suddenly I couldnt' get the league to load anymore. I kept getting the message "Can't load messages file". So after trying several times, I just gave up on it and, because the game was doing several other weird and not so wonderful things, I uninstalled it and reinstalled. Seems to be working fine for the time being but here's my issue...before the reinstall, the player ratings were vastly different! I dont' know which is right, but for instance, before I uninstalled it, the speed and steal ratings for Jacoby Elsbury of the Red Sox were 18 and 20 respectively. Now, they are both 100!! What gives? Which is right and if the original was right, why are the ratings different now?

Sounds like the game is using a different rating scale this time round - previously it was 1-20, now it seems like 1-100.

Thanks Tony, you were exactly right. I'm a bozo. I never even thought to look at that. The only puzzler is WHY it was using different ratings. I didn't alter that in my first install, just left it on default settings but this time, the default was indeed the 1 to 100 scale as opposed to the 1-20 scale. Oh well, now I know how to fix it. I deeply appreciate your prompt and accurate response. You guys are the best folks in all of gamedom to work with. Thanks again.

That would have been down to how Erich set the MLB roster set up between patches I think.

Anyway, I'll close this thread now as the problem has been resolved.
