when to use ootp converter

I'm currently finishing up my second season in 2007, which I converted from 6.5. There was about 10 season of 6.5 data that I want to pull into OOTP 9 once I convert this season. At what point do I run the tool to convert the data?

Convert data? Do you mean import into OOTP9?

If so, you can do it at any point you like.

Some have done it at seasons end, some during the pre-season, and some mid-season. Thus far I have heard of no problems with conversions.

Edit - other than the L/R splits problem which will be addressed in this weekends patch.

Sorry I meant when to run the Convert Cato utility in OOTP 9. I tried mid-season and the game crashed. I tried on the same league a year earlier (before I simmed in ootp 2007) and it worked with a converted 6.5 file.

The end of the season, I believe right after you press the "Proceed to Next Season" button. Obviously, if you want the history dump the CSV files and run Catobase on it. Then, import your league into OOTP9, run the Cato converter and import the Cato data into OOTP9. Not too painful!

Drop me a PM if you need any more help.

So I'm running the Cato convertor in OOTP9 during the preseason?

I believe so, yes. Before spring training starts...

I THINK (but not positive) that Markus said the Cato import can happen anytime since it is historical data being changed. The Cato tool also has another cool use that will be explained in a seperate post at a seperate time...

When I try to do it mid-season, off-season, and pre-season the game crashes for the 2007 file. The 6.5 file converts fine, but it's two seasons behind

Anyone know why the game crashes when I try to run the tool. It goes to 87% and crashes.

So the OOTP game crashes at 87%? Hmmm....

May need to turn this over to Markus. Could you post a copy of your Cato Lahman files so I can take a look at them (since that is the part I did some work on)?
