FOOL Celebrates its upcoming 75th season!
![]() FOOL prepares to start its 75th season The biggest and best OOTP Fast-Sim Multiplayer league prepares to start its 75th season on Monday. FOOL's inaugural season was the 1961 season and now 75 seasons later has seen 19 different general managers win the coveted FOOL title. FOOL is an OOTP fast sim league that completes an entire season in one week of Real time over the course of five individual daily sims. The focus of the entire week builds around the Monday night live sim where the majority of the league gathers to watch the results as they occur live. An example of this can be seen last season when the league came together for the 2034 REGULAR SEASON. In the course of 2 hours, we had over 200 replies from members of the league. The top two teams in each league continue on each season to play the next evening in the playoffs in effort to reach the FOOL Classic that decides who the new FOOL Champion will be. When a FOOL Champion is crowned, they are added to the FOOL CHAMPION'S ROW which displays their proud team banner and provides the link to the playoff thread for their championship year. Our reigning 2034 Champion Hartford Harpooners will be trying for a three-peat in the 2035 season. (They have 7 championships in franchise history) ![]() In FOOL, you get to see history unfold before your eyes One of the best parts of a fast-sim league such as FOOL is the ability to watch history unfold before your eyes. The ability to draft a young player, bring him up through your farm system to the major leagues and then one day if lucky they might become one of the game's greats. For the best of the best, they some day will get enshrined into the FOOL Hall of Fame where they are immortalized forever. Just this morning, the newest class for the FOOL HoF was announced and two players were voted in. Joe Hughes, long time third baseman of the Montreal Majestics, and Lawrence Carroll, a long time New York Hero whom one of the best defensive middle infielders in FOOL history. ![]() ![]() Every so often, we get to see greatness before our eyes however such as last season when the league watched the best pitcher in FOOL history break both the all time record for wins which previously was 353 as well as breaking the all time record for strikeouts which was 4799, a record set in the 1970s! JUAN 'CUTTER' SIERRA BECOMES ALL TIME FOOL WINS KING ![]() FOOL Owners never want to leave! Perhaps one of the biggest complaints that we receive is this style of instant gratification multiplayer simming ruins traditional "slow" online leagues for many of our owners. Once they are hooked, they often get bored having to wait months or years just to rebuild a losing team. In FOOL, you can start and finish a rebuilding project, and if crafty enough play through a few years of a dynasty all within a few months of real play. FOOL has remained so successful that we have expanded out to two additional leagues over the past 6 months. FOOL-X is the OOTPX version of the same league format, while FOOL-H is our Historical league that started in the year 1901. Although both FOOL and FOOL-H both are fictional leagues, FOOL-H uses real teams and real players in an alternative living of history. At this current time however there are no openings in any of these leagues. We always welcome people to sign up to join the waiting list however. FOOL announces expansion for the 2037 season! The last FOOL realignment occurred before the 2011 season, but due to interest in the league and no spots ever opening up for new owners, FOOL will be expanding by two teams in the 2037 season. ![]() The Newark Terriers Dark Cloud, the original founder of FOOL returns to the league after 24 seasons to take the helm of Newark. Dark Cloud has 2383 wins in his career to go along with 9 league titles and 4 FOOL Championships. The Terriers revive the original FOOL dynasty, St. Louis Terriers, moving them to New Jersey where they will join the Continental League in the country's largest media market. Their new ballpark, named Zion Stadium is located close to the Newark airport. ![]() The Hyannis Patriots TimGuru returns to FOOL with the Hyannis Patriots, and will be joining the Republic League in 2037. The Patriots are located in the heart of Cape Cod and strive to pull some of the diehard Boston Settlers fans away. TimGuru in his career has reached the playoffs twice and has 1420 career wins. The state of the art Patriots Place seats 40,000 vacationing summertime Cape Cod fans. Looking forward to the next 75 seasons... There is quite a good deal of OOTP history, and recently a few of our league members have been looking back through the past. Baltimore Charm's manager Muns, a 9 time FOOL Champion has recently rated the 45 current or former managers of FOOL as well as relived some of their most memorable moments in the league in his FOOL Managers over the years thread. Newark Terrier's new manager Dark Cloud, a 4 time FOOL Champion is currently looking back at the top 75 teams of all time from 1961 through 2033. To look through the rest of FOOL's history as well as more information about the league and the other two leagues FOOL-X and FOOL-H, you can visit our webpage: FOOL WEBSITE If you have any interest in FOOL, the format or are interested in joining the waiting list, feel free to contact me either here or through the webpage or our forums.
