Name My Brooklyn Expansion Team

So the premise of my new league will be that in 1962, instead of awarding an expansion team to the New York Mets, the league decides to give it to Brooklyn to make up for the Dodgers leaving for LA.

However, I need a name for the club. I can't decide whether to choose from past names of Brooklyn teams or go for something new. I'm leaning towards the Grays and, if I had to choose right now, the Canaries. What say you?

A little background about each of the possibilities:

Atlantics: the ocean

Grays: it's a color.

Bridegrooms: "After several of the team's players were married in succession in 1888, the press began referring to the team as the "Brooklyn Bridegrooms." The Bridegrooms won the AA pennant in 1889."

Grooms: See above.

Superbas: The "manager shared a surname with "Hanlon's Superbas," a popular acrobatic troupe at the time."

Robins: named after manager Wilbert Robinson, who led the team to pennants in 1916 and 1920.

Canaries: Never adopted, but after Robinson retired in 1931, Max Carey became the manager, and the idea was to name the team after him. Instead, they returned to being the Dodgers.

Other: You name it.

Hmm. Maybe the Eagles? After Walt Whitman's newspaper The Brooklyn Daily Eagle?

Any team from Brooklyn has to be named the "Bombers."

Brooklyn Bombers

I used to have a team in a Sim Dynasty pool that I called the

Brooklyn Wardheelers in honour of the old corrupt Tammany Hall politicians.

I also changed all the players names to ones I pulled out of a biographical dictionary of political figures.

The Grays are a fine name. They'd be even better for a club in Washington (in honor of the Homestead Grays of the Negro leagues), but they'd work for Brooklyn as well.

I pick Grays also. As part of your backstory you could even say they were named in honor of the Homestead Grays.

Brooklyn Bagels - La Bagel Delight on 7th Avenue in Park Slope has the best bagels in the world.

Brooklyn Rickeys - Blatent Nostalgia. At least name the stadium Rickey Park

Brooklyn Bums - Again, obvious nostalgia

You realize the Homestead Gray played in Pittsburgh right? I know Wash is the "home away from home" but Pittsburgh is really the home.

Just so you know my stadium database has the dome that O'Malley proposed for Brooklyn in 1952. Would be a good home for your Brooklyn club

I almost always add the Brooklyn Blue Sox to the MLB. Sometimes the Brooklyn Bums. But I like Blue Sox because it completes the Red White and Blue set.

Funny, I was always told it the other way around. They only played in Pittsburgh when the Senators were in town.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.
