NABL - Proposed New Career League for Experienced GMs

Howdy,

I'm thinking of starting up the North American Baseball League.

The NABL would be a TRUE career league, starting in 1903 with 16 teams.

This is a league for the stats-junkies among us. For those who get a rush out of trading.

A season will be simmed each month.

Week1 – Free Agency
Week2 – Rookie Draft (M-F) and ST (Su – all 5s across the board)
Week3 – 1st Half of the Season (Monday – April, Tuesday – May, Wednesday – June, Thursday – July)
Week4 – 2nd Half of the Season and Post-Season (Monday – August, Tuesday – September, Wednesday – Post-Season)

At this pace, we should be able to do 12 seasons of baseball each year.

Now, this may seem a bit impersonal, but this is a league for the true GMs amongst us, Its for those who want to see their team over 20, 40, 60 years. Be proud of the accomplishment they have done.

Whether or not the AI runs the teams during the sims or the teams are human controlled – but depth charts are all filled out and extra bodies up for injuries – will be decided by the ownership.

The league will start with an initial draft and, as each season slips by, rookies will be imported via the Lahman Database.

Each team will be able to adjust their ballpark to suit their particular style - ballpark factors, rain, temp, wall heights, etc.

As well, in the off-season, teams will be able to upgrade their stadium or move their team (at a price).

Expansion will take place at regular intervals.

Obviously, this is not a league for the faint of heart. This is a league for GMs who are experienced, desire a hell of a strong challenge, can devote the time necessary and are online a fair amount.

For those wondering about me as a Commish, I currently run the GMC (9th season – 1980s league) and the EBL (4th season – current teams).

I also participate in the CBL, FBL and CUBL leagues.

If anyone is interested, give me a shout at gordon231@hotmail.com . Serious, experienced GMs will be given first looks at taking part, as this league will only work if all the GMs are committed to the concept, are online a lot and usually participate a lot in their leagues.

Fanatics. That's what the NABL would be looking for. Die-hard baseball stat-junkie fanatics.

I’d also appreciate any comments, ideas or criticisms about the concept.

Why didn't my name make the list of owners and teams? I have sent you several e-mails, expressing my interest in the league...The least you could do is tell me your full or have enough to start. I may not be the most experienced OOTP leaguer, but you would definately have someone that would stick it out. I would appreciate a heads up either way!!

Replay Was Sent

A reply was sent, but was delayed by my email provider for some damn reason.

There are days when Microsoft is a very disturbing entity....

................

I think we have found our last two franchise owners, so I want to thank everyone who has shown interest in the NABL.

I think its a strong indicator that the league will be a top-notch one when such amazing potential owners want to get in. A league is only as strong as its owners.

Because the NABL is going to be very intense, I had to make tough choices on the ownership. Often, I went with recommendations from other commishes.

For those who didn't make the list, please dont take this as I think you are unworthy, etc. The other two leagues I run, the GMC and the EBL, everyone who applied but didnt make it I would be damn happy to have in.

Given that the NABL is a time-consuming, every day is an important day type of league, I believed I had to go with the truly fanatical fan.
