Your Worst Managerial Performance?
What was the worst season you ever had while managing all of your games?
Recently I tried the MLB quickstart for the first time since I usually do historical simulations or fictional leagues only. I selected the 2007 Washington Nationals since I prefer to manage weaker clubs and see how much better I can do than their real life results. However, the experience was so bad and the club was so incapable of producing anything on offense that I gave up after only a few weeks of the season. I let the AI take over for the rest of the way, and the results were no better. Washington was the most putrid club in all of baseball. This led me to wonder about the experiences that others have had with bad teams in OOTP. What was your worst ever experience, particularly with a historical team or with a current MLB sim? |

Mine was the very first "job" I got. I play fictional leagues but with real teams (I like the logos and unis) and my first job was with the Minnesota Twins, with the lowest budget in the league. My owner's preseason expections read something like "should be able to least stay close to even", or something like that. Well, on May 15th the Twins were 12 under .500 and I lost that nights game 12-3, and then a screen comes and saying you've just been fired!!!
Some debut, huh? |

Well my worst managerial performance was when I TRIED to be bad.
A couple weeks ago testing out the financials in beta I was taking advantage of every hole there was. In 2 seasons I ran the team to -500 million in cash (cash max was 500 million), had 400 million plus in payroll (on a budget of 90 million) and went 30-132 the first season and 12-150 the next. I was fired after the second season. ![]() On a fictional note, I found a lawyer and sued the team for firing me without cause... but seeing as the team was in the midst of bankruptcy I didn't receive a settlement.
