Game Crashes At Initial Draft
Running OOTP'07, whatever the last patch was. I don't know why this has started happening, but whenever I go to the Inaugural Draft screen and hit 'Continue Draft,' the game crashes. Doesn't matter if it's fictional, historical, or current players. They all crash. It also crashes using files that I know are good, as I made copies before the draft in the past and ran that draft as well as playing the copied versions. This problem just started today.
Very confusing.

Crashes, as in the "OOTP Must Close?"

Yepp. OOTP closes down, I have no choice. Get the Windows popup saying OOTP no longer works, OOTP closes.
Now that I think of it, the power went out earlier this week while I was running an initial draft. Today was the first time I tried running one again. I'm guessing that means I'll have to re-install OOTP. |

The league wasn't backed up, I had just created it moments before. But I've created leagues since then to test it out, those drafts crash the game, as do previously created leagues.
And, of course, whenever I try to open the eLicense Control, nothing happens. Awesome.

Well, that's all a little creepy. I'm thinking your reinstall idea might be the only alternative now.

I discovered that there was a direct unlicense link in the Start Menu, so the lack of elicense wanting to work doesn't matter. Re-installing and licensing as I type. Not a big deal, really, just a bit of a hassle.

Now it's a big deal. A complete clean re-install and re-license... loading an existing league and going to the draft: crash. Creating a completely new league and going to the draft: crash.

Still not working. This is going to be a problem, as it'll keep me from running the amateur draft for my online league that I run.

Kelric, this is a long shot, and I don't remember if you're running a PC or not, but click on start, type in %appdata%, and OK that one to run. You can do this after your next uninstall to make sure no residue is in that folder. IMO, it needs completely emptied prior to the next install with a problem of this nature. I'm confident you'll whip it. It has to be frustrating, but hang in there. We'll keep looking for alternatives.

I uninstalled the game, emptied the SI folder in appdata, re-installed the game, created a new fictional league, went to the draft screen, hit 'Continue Draft' and.... 'OOTP'07 has stopped working.'

Well, I think we're down to two things, unless someone else has any other ideas:
1. You did delete ALL OOTP folders after uninstall and prior to install? That includes the Program Files/OOTP...2007 directory AND the Owner/Documents...OOTP folder? 2. We may need to have you upload the league you're trying to load to see whether it is a league problem and not a 'game' problem. Edit: NOW I see you created a new fictional league, so I'm even more stumped. Review the total uninstallation, because obviously there can't (shouldn't) be anything wrong with your original downloaded game. Did you add a patch later, or was the game you downloaded patch-inclusive? I assume the former. Darn it, this is very peculiar.

Okay, I went back and uninstalled again (man, uninstalling takes longer than installing does with OOTP) and made sure the Program Files/ and Documents/ were both cleared. Restarted the computer to clear things out. Made sure the %appdata% was clear, restarted the computer. Re-installed the game to all of the default directories, created a new fictional league, still crashed on Continue Draft. Uninstalled everything again, ran the appdata, restarted, re-installed in a custom directory (simply C:Program Files/OOTP 2007) and started the game up. Created a new fictional league, went to the draft, everything seems to work fine. I don't know why it wasn't working in the default directory, unless something was hiding somewhere on my computer that appdata wasn't finding. I appreciate the help.
