Re-signing players in online leagues

Does anyone have any recommendations for limitations to put on re-signing players in online leagues. We don't like being able sign players for less than what they make now when they are stars putting up great numbers. And other problems exist as well. Does anyone have a good system for this?

Limit length, a league I'm in has 5 yrs. Also having a salary cap helps.

Here's a thing we're seeing:

During the free agent signing period, people will sign a player to an insane contract (something like 10 million for 1 year). Then the following season, they'll be able to re-sign that same player for much less (many times less than half the money of their current salary). Any ideas for house rules for this?

Make a minimum length for each dollar amount.

$1-2M - 2 yr.
$3-7M - 3 yr.
$8-10M 4 yr.

Something like that.
