Few Questions before I buy
Bought every OOTP including 2006 & 2007 but never played either of these more then a few hours..
Anyways want to get back into this game and was wondering if what I am after is possible... I noticed on Padres site there is a Universe Pack, "MLB World Of Baseball 2007 v2.0". I want to start in 1901 and run a "fictional" historical league until 2006 and begin play. However, I am a complete idiot when it comes to "adding stuff" and it appears this Universe pack has uniforms, stadiums etc...So, can I download this file then select a start date of 1901 ? Or , is there an easier way for me to start a fictional historical league and not spend days trying to figure out how to load stadium packs, etc.. I really tried with 2006 to add mod's etc and read tutorials and the whole 9 yards but I am truly helpless with this stuff. Thinking back to these nights makes my skin crawl and not to even want to try. If not I will just start in 2007 but I have always wanted to play a fictional game with a rich history. |

That universe pack is just a fully equipped quick start game and AFAIK there is no way to change the starting date of a quick start game.
A template is more flexible in that you can use one to start a league in 1901 if you want. The problem is that with a template you will want to do some setup work with stadiums, logos, uniforms, and photos that you can download from other pages on that web site. Even the big templates that you see there that come with separate graphics packs and stuff still require some work to set up. BTW, it does not appear that you are thinking of league exansion and team relocation which would make history from 1901 to 2006 appear more realistic. I think that if a downloaded template was set up to be a historical league, you can set the option for auto expansion but again you would have to finish setting the league up first. Of course, you could start your own historical league using the wizard, but that would be the most work of all. So unless you want to do the work to have realistic MLB history, I would use the universe pack that you downloaded and build your history forward from 2007. A hundred years from "now," you will have "a fictional game with a rich history." Last edited by 1998 Yankees; 04-03-2008 at 08:56 PM. |
