League setup questions
I searched and found some really old threads on this, but is anyone able to create a European league? I'd like to run a parallel Euro league to my online league, but it only wants me to select one country, whereas I want players with names all across Europe. I'd like to do this without changing my names file as I have other leagues on my disk and don't feel like constantly changing files.
Also, is there a way to import a player from one universe to the next, sort of like what Pierre's utility did?

It can be done, but you basically have to do it in a round about way. There is no straightforward way to do it.
You basically need to create teams in each of the countries, don't do an inagaural draft, release all of the players into the free agent pool, delete them and then on each team, you need to use the "create fictional players to this roster" or whatever it's called (I don't have the game fired up at the moment). Make sure that foreign player percentage is set to 0% and also make sure that for each team, make that country be the league origin for when you're adding players to that roster. You rinse, wash, repeat for each country. Tedious? Yup. But that's how I used to do it, more in 2006 than the current version since it's so much freakin' work. |

It's possible, I started off a dynasty with it, but made a mistake in one area of the setup which led to problems further down the line, but it's a fairly easy thing to set correctly before starting.
It however does require external modding to get it to work, and with things on at the moment I haven't got round to creating a good front end to do it. Basically what I did was, for an EU league, to set up six leagues in the six founder countries and make them foreigner no-go zones. So no trading, no free agency, etc. I left the draft on in each of these leagues, and then created a European League and disabled things such as drafts, free agency, etc so nobody could ever come into the league. The trick was then to make the game think the teams in the national leagues were actually in the encompassing league which I did by reprogramming the world.dat file. All the teams in the national leagues were given the league id of the new league but the original leagues still had them down as members so they could take part in the drafts... It worked fine the first season, and the French team only ever had French players, and only drafted French players. My mistake was to have not turned off hidden players, so these foreigners kept appearing over time. I'll probably try and get a front end to do this for OOTP9 and see if it can be backwardly-compatabilitised into 8.

Interesting. I'll have to see if this is somehow workable. Are you able to import players from one universe to another?
