have a question.

do minor league numbers have anything to do with how they will perform in the big leagues?

let's say i got 2 pitchers at AAA

one is 14-7 with a 3.38 ERA but he's rated lower in all categories except strikouts

but the other one who's let's say 6-8 with a 5.39 era but he's rated better in all categories.

which should i decide to bring up to the majors? the one with the better stats at AAA or the one who's got the best rating?

It is just about like "real" minor league numbers, they "can" be an indicator of how they will perform. But, they may not be....

When I look at players I try to look at:
-Talent/ratings of the player
-Minor league stats
-Scouting report

i've often noticed that some players perform better in AAA over AA...some in the majors instead of AAA.

I had a talented closer that was ready to hit the major league level one year after he was drafted. I knew he was ready but he had an ERA over 7 in AAA. I thought to myself, he must be bored or something. I decided to bring him up to see how he'll pitch since my current closer would be retiring after the season. Wonderful. The guy was almost unhittable and in his first full season (the following year) saved nearly 40 games for me with an ERA just over 2.

so stats are very important, but just remember that some players tend to lose focus in the minors and just wanna head into the Big Show.

Assuming you have a good scout, I always go by ratings rather than minor league stats.
