TB2 History Utility
Someone emailed me about the thread for my TB2 History utility being gone. So for those who missed it, you can download the utility here:
http://www.irregardlessproductions.com/TB2History.zip TB2 History Utility Version 1.1 Instructions: 1) Unzip the TB History.exe program directly into your TB2 game directory. If you installed the game in the default directory, it would be C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\Title Bout Championship Boxing 2 If you changed the install directory, then you'll have to install it there. 2) Run the program and pick the Database you want to export. 3) Choose the font and date options 4) Click "Create Files" and wait until the message at the bottom says FINISHED. If you have a lot of fights in your history, it could take a bit. In the database I used to test the program, there were 2200 fights and it took about 10 seconds to run. 5) The index.html file will be in your database's directory. If your database was titled "MyDB", then it will be in the /Data/MyDB/ directory within your game's directory (C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\Title Bout Championship Boxing 2 if you installed to the default directory). The rest of the html files will be in the HTML directory. VERSION HISTORY 1.1 : Fixed: Didn't load HTML files properly in IE 1.0 : Initial Release |

Sab:
I have tried to run this utility several times, but it always stalls while writing the files. I can leave it for 20 minutes, but it is still sitting there. When i check TaskManager, it shows it as Not Responding. I have lots of RAM (1GB) and HD space, so I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. Cheers!

I haven't mine runs smoothly but it does take a little while. Usually about 10 minutes.

Hmm. How big is your universe? How many matches and fighters do you have?
The larger your history, the longer (exponentially) it's going to take to write the files. It's definately not the most elegant program. RAM and HD space propaply wouldn't have much to do with it. I'd say processor speed and the speed of your hard drive (RPM) would make the most difference if the program is taking a long time, aside from how big your history is.Try running it again. After it sits for awhile, shut the program down through the Task Manager. Then go into the directory with the HTML files (C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\Title Bout Championship Boxing 2\Data\(GameName)\HTML\) and see what's in there. Post a screenshot of the listing if you can. See if there are any funky file names, a lot of 0KB sized files, etc. etc. |

Thanks, Sab. I'll try that later this week.

Last night I left it for 90 minutes and it worked fine. Maybe invoking the task manager itself is what was causing it to not respond.

90 minutes...wow. I had no idea it could take so long. Do you have a really large history? I might revisit this to take care of that. The problem, of course, is that there simply is no way to speed up the process of writing text files. It's just a slow process. I might be able to do something about how much is writen. For the sake of simplicity, the program writes everything out each and every time. I might be able to include a sort of "save" feature, so that it knows where it left off the last time it was ran and just goes on from there. It's been awhile since I looked at the code, so I'm not sure how hard it would be to add that. |

When I said 90 minutes, I meant I left the room for 90 minutes to do chores for SWMBO. The most I had waited before was probably 15 minutes. I can only conclude it was between 15 and 90. Now that I know it is OK, I don't expect anything else, particularly where you're kind enough to provide a free utility.
If I am in the room the next time, I will report back some more accurate information on time and stats. Thanks again, Kevin
