Spring Training and Morale

For the first time, I paid some attention to spring training in my online league. The first week, I played my starters everyday and 3 of them suffered DTD injuries. So, I had to bench them for the 2nd week, so they could recover. I also added a few players, so everyone could get a day off on the 3rd day. Now, as I start the 3rd week, 3 are unhappy about role on team (not starting). That's kind of ridiculous, isn't it? Spring training is supposed to get the 'rust' off, and players should not have their morale adversely affected during spring training.

Real competitors who consider themselves team stars will be anxious to get back into the game in their accustomed roles, the heck with a day off every three days. Their bad attitudes should be only temporary, however, as you will be working them back into the starting rotation as soon as their DTD injuries have healed. As far as the rust aspect goes, you might do better to accommodate their wishes as soon as possible, if these really are your team stars. You want them ready to go on Opening Day!

Make them all untouchable for ST. That should improve their mood unless they want to be traded.

Seriously, the morale system requires work.

I sometimes put DtD regulars on the DL if it is early in ST. They only need 8-12 games or 40-50 AB to get ready.
