stadiums

I'm sure I'm missing something rather easy, but how would one import historical stadiums with the proper capacities and field sizes?

Adam, there is no quick and easy, universal file to import real ballpark data. There is good information available, however; see my post in the thread linked below. This data is usually entered manually into the game.

The one other possibility that might work is a bit tricky; see Charlie Hough's suggestion in that thread. He was talking about downloading a MLB quickstart or roster saved game and just using that with historical stadiums already loaded for you, but you may prefer to have some flexibility.

In that case, you may have some luck if you locate the parks.dat file in the quickstart or roster saved game and copy it over the same one in your saved game, in the folder named [your game].lg. Back up the original first.

The parks.dat file stores all of those manual edits that were done by the mod-makers to make otherwise generic stadiums appear accurate in their recreations. Of course, the era in which their creations take place will determine which stadiums are included, and this would be present-day in most of these mods, but you might find historical ballparks as well and many of the older stadiums still in use today may not need to be altered for your game. In any case, some of the work would have been done for you already if this works.

Edit: I knew I remembered somebody doing this successfully. Here it is:
