Want to expand my league
I've got the current MLB setup: 5-5-4 in the AL, 5-6-5 in the NL. However, I think it's time to add six teams so that I can have an even 6-6-6 alignment in both leagues. I would like to bring the Montreal Expos back, but I'm uncertain about the other five teams. What cities deserve a MLB team, and what should their nicknames be?
I'd like to put the Expos in the AL East, so that they can form a natural Canadian rivalry with the Blue Jays. For the other cities, I was thinking maybe Portland (OR), Las Vegas, New Orleans, Charlotte, and Indianapolis. I suppose if I wanted to get a little bit crazy, I could go for Puerto Rico, Mexico City, Hawaii, Alaska, Vancouver, etc. Last edited by jg2977; 12-06-2007 at 11:25 AM. |

Somebody will probably say Orlando... it alway seems to get thrown into the ring.

Here's a few team nicknames that I've used in my games: Portland Timberjacks, (one of my faves), Carolina Flyers for Charlotte, and Las Vegas Aces. I've also used Montreal Olympics a few times as well.

What about another New York area team in New Jersey? (Build your stadium next to the Meadowlands complex...)

In my game http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=156352
I expanded the leagues with the Vancouver Marmots and the Buffalo Blizzards. Great fun, but be careful with the expansion draft. It virtually killed my minor league system

I think that three teams in the New York area would be unnecessary. Let other parts of the country enjoy Major League Baseball.
However, I've always wanted a team in Hartford, my hometown. Maybe I can bring the Whalers back, put them in the NL East and have them start a rivalry with the Mets! I'm not going to choose San Antonio, because there's already two other teams in Texas. I've always thought it would be fun to put a team in Hawaii, so I just need a good nickname for them. So I think I'm going to choose Hartford, Hawaii, New Orleans, Portland, Montreal, and Las Vegas. Last edited by jg2977; 12-07-2007 at 11:16 AM. |
