Metro Leagues (Gone offline)

Howdy Guys,

You're probably wondering what happened to the Metro Leagues posts.
Well I'm sad to say the Metro League web site will be suspended. This is because I've become immersed in another fictional solo league project called Metro Football League. I've been able to graphically display my new solo league project in a way that I truly enjoy and have wanted to do for a very long time. Unfortunately, I don't have time to maintain both solo sites so I've chosen to give up the baseball site.

However, I'm happy to say that the Metro Leagues will still be going strong offline. I've finished the 1953 season and the Delta Stars defeated the Gotham Knickerbockers in the Championship Series 4-1. I'll be preparing for the '54 campaign offline soon.

I want to thank all those who kept up with the Metro Leagues web site for your kind words and encouragement. I hope it fired your imagination and inspired many to try their hand at fictional solo play. I truly enjoy OOTP and will continue to support the product and its community.

Thanks theurbanshocker. I'm going to leave the site up, modified a bit, as an inspirational site. It won't be chronicling the season to season goings on in the league but perhaps it'll inspire still others who might want to use the ideas from the league in their own fictional league play.

Well - that stinks. I've followed the Metro League for a long time - from afar. In fact Your league is what inspired me a couple of years ago for me fictional solo league. Thanks for the great reads and I hope you can continue updating the metros.

Thanks asaintsfan. I'm happy the league inspired you to give fictional play a go. It's a wonderful way to play ootp and the only way I play any sports sim.

Jon,

I'm really sad about this , I love the Metro Leagues!

Anytime my fictional league needed a little push I would click on the ole Metros for some needed inspiration.

Also, thanks for answering my emails about your league through the years, I really appreciated you taking the time to do so.

I'll miss the updates but I'm hopeful it will make a comeback!

Any thought on using Front Office Football ? That would be my choice at least for the AI engine.

Good luck with the Metro Football Leagues I'm sure it will be a hit?

a sad day indeed, I am one of the many who have used your fanastic mind to start a fict./hist. league. The Metros set the bar for fict./hist. leagues. Thanks for sharing your ideas with me. Good luck in your next project, I know that it will be a success.

Thanks, dickysty. You've always asked such good questions.

I've followed FOF closely and you're right it's a solid AI engine. However, the football engine I'm using allows me to customize just about everything. That's what I was looking for and the AI is steadily improving. It may never reach the quality of the AI in FOF, but it's fun. I just love the fact that I can use it to present the league in a way that I've always wanted.

I've already modified the Metros baseball site and it has the 'about metros' page, my 'ballpark tours' page and the 'uniform' page. It's not the same as an ongoing site, but I hope it'll still provide a little inspiration to those who need ideas and inspiration for fictioanl play.

Thanks dcpcarmona.

I'm happy you were able to use the ideas to build your fictional league. I'll still be playing the Metros offline, so feel free to email me anytime with questions.

Thanks for the kind words Erik. I'm still enjoying the Metros offline. I doubt I'll ever give up playing the league. Also, I'm happy that the league site has given so many folkes enjoyment and inspiration over the years.

Just wanted to add my name to the list of those inspired by the Metro Leagues. The concept, the website & the characters all made a big impact on me when I first discovered OOTP. Thanks, Jon, long may you continue to enjoy both your baseball and football leagues. Like others, I hope we may get to see the Metros again at some time in the future, but whether we do or not, your place in my personal OOTP history is assured.

Wow! Kind of a shocker. I have been following the league for some time and have enjoyed the site, the stadiums etc... I have actually based my solo fictional universes on your league. Your league gave me the inspiration for my fictional cities.txt files that I use for my fictional leagues (I create custom cities.txt and nations.txt files for each league created). Wish you well with your Football Dynasty (Funny I just started playing UFL and have created a universe to play along with my fictional universe). Not enough hours in the day with the work thing and OOTP.......

Thanks, Tyke. I glad the Metros impacted you and quite a few others in peaking your interest in fictional play. It' s a fine hobby.

Thanks for the good wishes, SandMan. It's great that you were able to base your fictional league off the Metros. I wish you the best in your fictional league endeavors, as well.

Mark me down as well as one who has been greatly inspired by the Metro Leagues over the years and saddened by the news of its retirement. Glad to hear though that the website will remain up as I frequently visit it for ideas and for the simple pleasure of visiting (and revisiting) the various denizens of this wonderful baseball universe.

It has inspired me to create my own fictional land that's baseball mad and that hopefully may see the light of day here on the dynasty boards.

Thanks DreamTeams and all the best with the Metro Football League!

What a shame, I have read your posts and hung out at your site a lot of times.
Hopefully, we can all look forward to you restarting Metro on day.

Scottiedog,

Thanks for visiting the site so many times. I hope you'll still be able to gather a little inspiration from the current site whenever you need it.

My goodness, I missed this thread.

I haven't been on this forum much lately.

I am in the process of setting up my Ruthlandian-Tycobbian dynasty league.

Sorry to hear that the Metro will be no more here on the forum.

The Metro and Laseron were my all-time favorite leagues.

They inspired me to do logos, uniforms and stadiums for my ill-fated Alltime Allstar Association. Hard drive failure did that league in. Sadly, I had not backed up the last few seasons and didn't have the heart to do them over.

I intended to post the Ruthlandian-Tycobbian league on my website, but like you it just takes too much time to do that with the other things I am involved in.

Anyway, the Metro League site was wonderful and I will miss it.

But I understand your reasons for ending it.

Enjoy your football fantasy.

Is there any way we can follow it?
