Fun read...

I visited my family for Thanksgiving (Canadian) yesterday and while sitting there I noticed a book in my grandfather's shelf titled simply Baseball Quotations, edited by David H. Nathan. Since I was a little bored at the time I started reading it and couldn't put it down. There is no depth to the book, no analysis of the game or anything of that nature here just a really fun read. It is also pretty shocking to see some of the earlier quotes about racial matters or gender equality. I mean we hear stories and such but it still hits you when you see the ignorance, the intolerance. Anyway I highly recommend this book.

I am considering posting a quote or two a day but don't want to seem like I am running up my post count or something. Maybe I could do it in the off topic section.

Another great quote book, although I don't remember it being controversial, is Paul Dickson's "Baseball's Greatest Quotations." I highly recommend it.
