So you think when Bonds breaks the HR record, the headline will be...

Bonds Creams Aaron

How about when Bonds is one homerun away from Aaron.

"Aaron asterisk of being passed by Bonds"

Oh I am. I've read quite a few articles about it and have come to the conclusion that the evidence is quite damning.

I've read the same articles and come to the conclusion that I don't know enough to come to a conclusion. Does this make me not objective?

Umm...I'm with UG on this one. Won't it just read:

"Bonds hits record-breaking 756th home run" ?

Everyone who talks about steroids, Balco...y'all just sound like a bunch of football fans. Pretty frankly, a lot of athletes -- hell, a lot of people in general -- do stuff I don't want to know about. I'd much rather forget that stuff and focus on America's Pasttime -- but I'm just a dopey Yankee fan, whaddo I know?

Aadik, if you've answered this previously, I apologize for missing it, but I have to ask...do you believe Bonds has done what he's done without steroids? Not looking for "lots of others do it too" or anything other than that question.

I'm just curious...I know you've defended Bonds and I know your take on the media's attitude against him (and you certainly have justification for that) but I've missed/don't recall you ever coming out and saying your opinion on whether Barry is "guilty/not guilty" of using steroids.

Or a bunch of baseball fans who don't want to see the most cherished record fall to someone who cheated their way to it.

I'm just not sure how you can be so damn sure about it. I mean, there's a difference between having a personal opinion on something and trying to pass it off as the gospel truth.

You're right. He simply suddenly became the greatest player ever to walk the earth at the age of 35. The first 15 years were just building up to that.

I tend to stay out of the Bonds arguments for a multitude of reasons... While I do believe he did take some sort of unethical supplement (and frankly cannot stand the guy)... It cannot take TOO much away from what he has done.

The numbers that he's put up over the past few years- or 11 years for that matter- are unreal.

Maybe im a bit of a purist, but my argument with your statement comes with "forgetting that stuff." To come out and declare Bonds a cheater when there is no 100% solid proof would be unfair, but to overlook the possibility is twice as bad IMO.

Fair question. I believe, with a certain rose-tint, that he hasnt taken steroids- I believe that post 2001 he's gone crazy with his workout regime, and just evolved into a ridiculously disciplined hitter. From what I can tell, a lot of the BALCO stuff is conjecture and seems to have more headlines than anything else- though I agree there is some stuff that comes across as potentially incriminating. The head crap is ridiculous- countless people have pointed the nature of it. The guy did adopt Jerry Rice's training regime- which by all accounts, most people in the NFL wouldnt keep up with. Im not willing to convict anyone on the basis of conjecute , be it Bonds or Giambi or whoever- I'd like proof. Fundementally, I can't see a guy who was the best player of the 90's by an objective measure resorting to something like that- but that is an opinion, and I like to think I seperate that opinion out when making a judgement on the facts at hand.
