NOBL has five openings

The National Online Baseball League has currently has five openings -- Houston, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Colorado. The NOBL is a fictional league using 20 teams. Games are simmed every day of the week except Sunday, three games per sim. Check out the website if you are interested. The league is very high on participation, so please read the application rules before applying.

Two teams went earlier today. We are at May 13 in the second season. A short plug for each team...

Pittsburgh: Like a challenge? The Pirates are 17-21, and may be overachieving. With close to $30 million in contract up for re-negotiations, this is the perfect time to start a rebuilding program. Seven rounds of rookies next season could be the launching pad for a quick turnaround in the Steel City.

Colorado: What can you say about any Colorado team? The thin air makes for good hitting and nervous pitching. They are 16-20, and are part of a very evenly-matched division. Who wouldn't like to add a couple of power hitters around the league's best slugging catcher in Glen Perlman and ride the longball to the playoffs?

Houston: Easily the pearl of the group, but you wouldn't know it by their 17-21 record. Good team, tough division. Two red hot hitters lead the charge in two-bagger John Haney (.358, 14hr) and leftfielder Steven Wooding (.267, 20hr in only 146 AB!). On the pitching side you have ace Odis Davalos (27-yr-old, rated 9) and the unhittable closer, Salvador Lopez (.132 vs Avg, 6-5, 37 saves last season).

Minnesota: The Twins are leading their division (21-15). This is an offensive manager's type of team. Four players hitting .333 or better, led by C Edmundo Talavera's .380 average. The pitching is somewhat thin, but two starters (Moorman and Griggs) have combined for a 10-3 record with both ERAs under 4.00.

Cincinnati: Good team, evenly-matched division. An excellent fan base, one of the best power-hitting teams in the league, and quality pitching make the Reds appealing to most anyone. No huge stars here; this is a blue-collar team where everyone contributes. The pitching stands out slightly more than the hitting with a good mix of starting, relieving and closing.
