San Francisco Giants - 2K7 and Onward
Yes, San Francisco has a team.
Yes, Barry Bonds plays for us. Yes, there are other players on the team. Not sure who they are though. Before I begin, let us take a look at how our current "Major League" talent stacks up against the league around us according to ESPN. Catcher: Bengie Molina (13th) First Baseman: Ryan Klesko (26th) Second Baseman: Ray Durham (2nd) Third Baseman: Rich Aurilia (21st) Shortstop: Omar Vizquel (16th) Left Field: Barry Bonds (1st) Center Field: Dave Roberts (19th) Right Field: Randy Winn (21st) Starting Ace: Tim Lincecum (9th) Top Reliever: Noah Lowry (9th) Closer: Brian Wilson (29th) Our two competent offensive players, Barry Bonds and Ray Durham, are fourty-two and thirty-five, respectively. None of the players listed on our offense are under thirty. Not to mention the fact they are not very good either. On the other side of the diamond Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain, both twenty-two, provide light at the end of the tunnel as two top-of-the-line starting pitchers. They are followed by Mr. Huge Contract himself, Barry Zito, who has an eight-year deal worth $138 million for being perfectly mediocre. Despite our bullpen having a few young pre-pubescent studs on it, there is not much to speak of there. Unless our starters can average eight-and-two-thirds-innings-per-game, these guys will get knocked around hard. In fact, even in that case they might. We have all this horrid talent, but our payroll still manages to be $94 million. How do you do that? You play the opposite of Moneyball, which I like to call Blowball. I'm not quite sure how to fix this team, but it will probably take some time and a whole lot of analyzing, dealing, and luck. Wish me that. |
