Can one manually input historical data to create a historical season? If so where does it explain how to do this in this 533 page manual (you would think it would mention it somewhere)?
I don't happen to like the fact that historical seasons require the entire career stats for each player or the remaining years for that matter and prefer to either enter the players actual average performance stats for the last three years or just for the year I am simulating. I am sure I can work out the performance measurements for each player. |

What do you mean by 'historical data'? Player ratings?
There is no automatic stats-to-ratings converter available in the game. Still, if you want to change a player's ratings, or create a new player, you must go into Commissioner mode (Manager menu-->Options). You can edit a player by opening his Profile and clicking the Editor tab. You can create new players from the Transactions (Free Agents) screen- there's a button along the bottom of the screen. There are mods available that can simplify the process. All that said, it would take an absurdly long time to create a complete set of historical players, and the results aren't likely to be better than a Lahman import (in fact, they're likely to be much worse). Historical imports only use future seasons to determine Potential ratings, not Overall ratings, and Overall ratings are generated to produce realistic results for the imported season only. Perhaps you could explain what you don't like about the way the game uses past and future seasons, and from there someone can probably help you to get the automated historical import to work how you want. |
