Increasing Walks & Getting More Realistic OBP?
Hey all,
I've noticed in my solo league that the trend for the overall league's K/BB ratios seem to be getting out of whack. The league is in its 10th year, and ever since the first year or two, league OBPs hover in the .317-.323 or so instead of the more realistic .335-.339. It may seem like a small difference, I know, but most pitchers in my league seem to have very good K/BB ratios; strikeouts seem fine but many of them barely walk anyone, which I think might be the reason for the low OBPs.
How would I go about bumping up the walks in the league? The setup involves a main US league will full minors, both college and high school feeder teams, and a couple of international leagues. Should I be tweaking numbers for the feeder teams? Walks seem pretty low there, as well.
Do I change the traditional PCMs of the main league for poorer pitcher control, or the Sabermetric PCMs of the feeders? I wouldn't think to change the league totals, since if I'm not mistaken all it does it adjust the totals and not really "fix" the problem, but I'm not positive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
