Hard Drive Space
I just purchased the game about a week ago and I am running it on a Mac Pro with a 250GB HD that had about 160GB free. Now after my second season the almanac is running and I get a message that my hard drive has run out of space. Since I haven't put anything else on my drive this doesnt make sense. Has anyone else experienced a problem with the game constantly writing data or something to this effect? I don't quite understand how to change this.

Can you check your OOTP-related folders to see how much space they are taking up?
Did you create an unusally large universe or two? A whole bunch of teams, leagues, minor leagues, etc that you played out for many, many decades? One universe two seasons in shouldn't do anything like what you were describing. |

HTML Files
The HTML files for my league total almost 167GB. I provided a screenshot. Is there someway that I can alter this setting so that I only have txt files or something else as my record for the almanac? This is for only one season for a league with 16 teams and all the minor league teams totalling 96 teams. It is one universe and it is also the first season.
Thanks for any feedback. |

That does seem to be unusually large, especially since your almanac isn't in there. Which exact folders inside of that one are taking up the most space?

It is the Leagues Folder...
and more specifically, the file that I gave a screenshot of below. Look at the size of this one file.

me too
Hexemie and I are running the same type of leagues with all the same settings and this is happening to me also. I'm not on a Mac, but ran into problems with disc space when running the year switchover 12/31 to 1/1. I've cleared a ton of old videos off my drive and have 240 GB available now, and am trying to convert the year again. We'll see how it does with the cleared drive. I can't imagine that the game would need 240 GB free to move from one year to the next.
We do have a lot of stuff set to save, so that might be our problem. If mine works this time without running out of drive space then we may know our issue. The two of us may need to go back in and turn off some of the things we've set to save. |

There's no way that schedule grid HTML file ought to be 160+ GB...I just took a look at mine and they're ~80 KB for a 16-team, 162-game league.
I'd suggest running scandisk (or whatever the Mac equivalent is); to me it looks like your OS is frivolously allocating space to that file even though there's no data there. If that doesn't help, just go ahead and delete the file...it's not exactly one you're going to miss in the long run. |

Well, for the best part of the last 4 hours, my pc has been trying to move from Dec 31 to Jan 1 after the 2nd season. I started with 240GB available and now I'm down to under 10GB and I'm sure the game is going to crap out on me once I hit 0 again. I'll play with the settings on what Hexemie and I have set to save and backup at the end of the year and hopefully will come up with whatever selection is our issue. I'll post whatever I find out.
Edit: Ok, all drive space got used up and it was the same file on my workstation getting created that caused the problem. The league_104_schedule_grid.htm was over 239GB when the system locked up on me. I'm not sure what setting Hexemie and I have that is causing this one file to go insane on two completely different systems. He's running a Mac and I'm running a PC so whatever setting we have chosen in the game has to be the issue. Last edited by rhavisi; 05-14-2007 at 04:25 PM. |

found the setting
Ok, I found the setting that was causing this, but I don't know why it was screwing up so massively on both of our computers, as I can't imagine we're the only people that chose the following option:
Game Setup, Almanac Options, Archive HTML reports annually Once I took the checkmark out of that option, I was able to roll from 12/31 to 1/1 without issue. |

Also, take out the check mark for any monthly csv dumps. Those add up fast.

This has been marked as something that will be addressed in the next full release of the game.
