Question Pitch counts wrong?

Hi folks,

Using OOTP4.1 on WinXPSP1

There's something about the pitch count that has me foxed. Maybe I just don't understand...

At the start of a game, 1st inning, first batter faced

The count is B2 S2, so how come the pitch count is 5/3?

Am I reading this right? I thought it was

pitches thrown / strikes thrown

If I pitch again, the next message is:

"Morris waits for the 3 and 2 pitch."

i.e. the 5th pitch

Have I misunderstood something?

Regards,

Matt

I think you are forgetting the pitch that is being thrown with that play: 2B 2S count (pitch made) ball hit(result). Shown as 5/3 correct count.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for responding, but I'm afraid I still don't understand.

When the display says 2B 2S four pitches in total have been thrown yes?

If so how can the display read 5/3 *at the same time*?

Regards,

Matt

Oh, now I see it is probably that a foul ball occured(need to remember that not every foul ball shows in the pbp), that would account for the pitch count. I am not 100% sure about this but fairly certain.

Hi Steve,

I still don't understand.

You say the pitch count is

pitches made / ball hit (result)

So 5/3 means

5 pitches made/ 3 results

But if the count is 2 and 2 then it should be

5/4

shouldn't it? With the 5 ndicating one foul...?

But I thought a foul ball was recorded as a strike.

I'm still confused.

Regards,

Matt

5=pitches made
3=strikes(2 strikes in the count + 1 foul ball)
2=balls

Count is 2/2

Hi Steve,

Of course, I am forgetting that it remains S2 even though the foul is counted as a Strike. Doh!

I still think the PBP should show the foul.

Thanks for your perseverance ;-)
