Help Design "Rise of the Federal League" - Dynasty/Online
I want your help making the big decisions. I plan on running the first two decades of the 20th century as a dynasty, then hopefully opening it up for online play with the alternate 1910's in place and chronicled.
Premise: What would have happened had judge Kenesaw Landis, a notorious "trust buster" and future commissioner, ruled in favor of the Federal League in their antitrust suit filed against organized baseball in 1914? Hopefully, the dynasty will be quite interesting from 1914 and through to the 20's. Not nearly as much will be going on in the 30's and 40's, but I will also be running the Pacific Coast League and plan to cover western expansion. Things could again start heating up... |

I was never a fan of pure historical real player leagues, not sure why, so I'm leaning towards all fictional players or a mixture. I think a mixture would be neat if I can pull it off, but I'd have to explain away why many real players aren't around. The fact that some cities with team won't have teams in this reality may mean some HOFers as kids never got interested in the game...

You're going to have a lot of players if the last one wins

1. Yes, I know I made a typo in option 6. It should read "Real 75% / Fictional 25%".
2. If the total of all the mixtures beat out just fictional or just real, I will pick one of the mixtures. Last edited by sbrylski; 09-11-2007 at 04:17 PM. |

3. You can let me know why you picked one of the options if you want.

Looks like fictional wins out, but some solid interest in a mixed league. Here's what I'll do:
I'm going to start the dynasty in 1914, and import real players and the real history of the league. From there on out, all draft classes will be fictional. Basically, its a rewrite from '14 onward, so it should be fictional players from '14 onward and real players up to that point. It'll be much easier to use 100% fictional draft classes too, and simming 1901-1914 will be hell for me because the league isn't creative/exciting until '14 anyway. Also, I plan on creating or generating Benny Kauff. Ruth will be a rookie, and will play an important role in the course of events, but probably not for the team or league you might expect... Is there a way to change to poll on the top, or would I have to create a new thread everytime I want to put something up for a vote? I'd like to make some decisions a group pick, but don't want to clutter up the forum. Last edited by sbrylski; 09-15-2007 at 02:14 AM. |

I went with ficitonal 100%. I have always like the "not knowing" who the players are until you learn what they can do by "watching" the season go by. I have played maybe two or three historical leagues and have always been disappointed in one way or another about player expectations and results with OOTP. DMB is the game for replays, IMHO. OOTP for fictional all the way!!!
