Possible FA extensions bug?
Ok, here's the scoop:
I signed some players to extensions for owners in my Internet League on Friday, a non-simming day. It was Friday, July 26th of the schedule. The webpage reflects these signings. I simmed tonight, the 26th through the 28th. I then went and did some extensions for other teams. All is well, right? Wrong. I was asked by one of my owners if I got his email on extensions. I told him I had, and he's ok. He asked why the players are still in the possible free agent portion of his team roster. I checked it out, and low and behold, there they are. The same goes for the other players that I resigned for teams on Friday. Is this a bug? And, should I go ahead and do these extensions directly following the next sim (tomorrow), before I put the files out? Does importing team files screw those up before a sim, if those transactions aren't in sync with the master copy (mine)? Can anyone give me any idea of what in the world happened? Peace John |

Not sure if I understand what exactly is happening here, but as Commish you should not make changes to the "master" league file after you make it available for download. If you make changes to the league after uploading the league file (for downloading by the other GM's) then there is a fairly good chance thier roster exports won't properly import into the game. It depends what changes you make of course, but it's a dangerous practise - the wise thing to do is always make all your league edits before making the file available for download.

It is the same, in terms of information and roster placement. I think that small portion of the files does change back though, as the extension information gets overwritten by the files. I think that's what the problem is, if I've properly reasoned this out.
I do know that it is a dangerous practice. I usually do it before I put things out; it was just this one time, and look where it got me. ; ) Fortunately, I have a backup of every sim this year. Oh, and the rosters that were imported came in fine. No problems whatsoever. But, as I said, I think they wrote over what I had done. Thanks Killebrew, you've been helpful, as is always the case. Peace John |
