Spring Training advice

I remember seeing some posts here that admonished the "ask the coaching staff" feature on the game. I am assuming the same logic used there would be the same logic used by a computer-run team. I have an on-line league with about 6 computer-run teams in it. I am thinking of turning those 6 teams to human control for Spring Training so that the players on those rosters get 5's straight across instead of what the computer would normally(?) give them.

Any advice on this? Did the last patch fix/improve the game's AI on Spring Training?
