Real teams but fake players

I'm hoping someone can help with this - I've spent the last 60 mins trying various searches and come up blank...

Is there a file I can use to get the correct team names and stadia, but uses fake players?

I don't necessarily want the fake players - I don't care either way - but the rosters I've been using have the waiver bug in them, and now I'm about to start a new game I'd really like it to have teams/places I can relate to, and the rules working as they should.

Thanks!

What you could do is download a MLB roster set, release all the players (can be done from league setup), then delete all the free agents. Then after that you can fill the teams with fictional players, also found in the league setup. Hope that helps.

You could try this:

http://www.planetootp.com/FakeHistory/Default.htm

These are the instructions to start a historical league (1901 in this example but you could use any year) and delete the players to create a fictional universe.

Or you could import any season from the Lahman and sim 50 years so that all you have is fictional players.

I believe that there is also a MLB template at PadresFan website that has all the logos, unis etc for a fake MLB universe.

Hope this helps....

Trying to do the "fake history" with the latest patch does not seem to work in regards to franchise moves at least ... started in 1901 and the Brewers didn't move to St. Louis and the O's didn't head off to New York (in '03)... did not have the will or the patience to sim far enough to see if expansion worked (I do have it selected to do so in the League setup) ...

Ok - with the help, I've managed to use Icy's MLB template, and got my fake rosters/real teams mix. The only thing I've not got, that I'd like, is the correct stadiums.

I know on padresfan's website there are templates and quickstarts that should have that working - however, every file I download from there (by firefox AND IE7) is corrupted. Mostly the images are corrupted, but for example the template itself is corrupted on the matter2003 WOB2.0 template.

I've tried the redsoxford utility but I can't managed to import an edited csv file back into the game files. Can anyone help, or I am in the wrong place now/beyond help!

Cheers again for your time.

Dave,

Quick first question. What did you use to edit the CSV? Was it Excel 2003 by any chance?

And you were out of the OOTP program when you ran the reimport?

Thanks for the reply, redsoxford (btw, is that reds oxford, or redsox ford?).

I used excel 2007.
I did the extract thing to get the parks_output.csv file in both the save games. I then checked the ID numbers in excel, copied the data of the parks I wanted from the one save, and pasted it over the data in the new game I'd created. I checked that the columns and rows still matched up, and saved the parks_output.csv that I'd created. Thats the point at which I can't get it to reimport - says it's an error.

That was all using the stadium importer tool. When I tried the Editor tool that I found yesterday, I got to the click start to verify location bit, and it said parks.dat successfully loaded. Current game contains 210 parks. When I click to load files I get this message: an error has occurred whilst saving parks.dat (0)
a general error has occurred whilst loading the parks (0)

Yes, I was out of OOTP at the time. Hope this helps.

It's the words redsox and oxford merged into one...
