Time required to save league

Is there some setting I probably have that is causing the amount of time required to save the league after each simmed season to seemingly grow exponentially as time goes on?

I don't have it set to save everything, although I don't know what I have it set for since it is still saving and I can't look. But the thing gets stuck at the "History Major League Baseball" portion of "Generating Almanac Reports". Does it really have to save the entire history every year instead of just adding the new year onto all of what has already been captured?

I've simmed from 1901 through 1957 once this finally finishes. I set it to sim 7 seasons when I left home 8 hours ago, and it has been stuck saving the last bit of the last season since I got home 40 minutes ago.

Just seems odd, and is bumming me out to know how long it is gonna take for me to sim to the point where I want to take control of a franchise.

Any solutions?

It has to be something with the almanac that makes saving take so long. I simmed 20 seasons in less than 6 hours last night (went to bed at 12:30AM got up at 6:30AM).

I've also simmed 100 years while I was at work (about a 10 hour day) before. I have NEVER saved an almanac so that is the the best response I can give you without knowing your computer specs which also could be slowing you down.

I have noticed that the almanac takes a great deal of time to save and a great deal of hard drive space. If this is your problem, you could either turn off the almanac or edit its profile as to what it saves to make it quicker and smaller.

Provided there is no issue with your computer, it is absolutely the almanac that is causing the slow save times. That thing is huge. There are other threads about options other than turning it off -- one involved manually creating it, and then moving the file elsewhere.

Adjusting those settings is the easiest way to speed up that save time. It will be blazing fast compared to what you've experienced!
