Mark Grace takes the hill
Hope everyone caught the highlight of Mark Grace pitching the 9th inning for the D'Backs in their 19-1 loss to the Dodgers. His impression of Fetters was brilliantly funny. The whole half inning was one of the most entertaining moments in baseball this year.

If he was really out there imitating Fetters and everything that is great. Grace seems to be one of those guys that is still out there enjoying himself and the game. I was really happy to see him win the series last season, he was very deserving of it.

An email from the Jim Rome show this morning.
Dear Jim, What do you mean I'm a slow tossing junk baller? My agent has already received calls from the Rangers and Indians. Mark Grace. Cheers Rich

I liked mine better ^^^^
Yea, looks like a soft toss to me... ![]() I liked the quote from Dodgers rookie Dave Ross who hit his first major league HR off of Grace: Asked what pitch he hit, Ross said, ''something slow down the middle.'' Last edited by LivnLegend; 09-03-2002 at 02:18 PM. |

That was absolutely hilarious. And this is the guy who supposedly was a problem in the clubhouse for the Cubs? I sure don't see it... What he did last night does nothing but make the clubhouse atmosphere GOOD. Somehow I have a feeling the problem lies elsewhere with the Cubs.

I've never heard that about Grace. I've always thought he was a nice guy and one who keeps the clubhouse light by joking.

but i'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that since this guy is from Illinois, he probably reads and hears more about the inside story of the Cubs clubhouse than those outside of the area. Not sayin that he is right and you are wrong. but i'm sure there are some Chicago writers who didnt like Grace and looked for any little thing he might have done wrong. outside of chicago, nobody cared and only looked at the good. its possible... |

To which Ross responded "It's ok...I'll tell people I hit my first homer off a future hall of famer, I just won't tell them which one." Good response, though Gracie will fall short of the Hall. GH |

i often wonder why announcers claim a player a future Hall Of Famer even when the players stats dont match Hall Of Fame credentials.
I guess in defense of the young rookie, Ross. In his mind Grace has been whats good for baseball. High class guy who I personally have an upmost respect for. Hall Of Famer? nah. Hall Of Fame character...yep |

As for Grace being bad in the clubouse, I never paid a whole lot of attention to what the media was talking about... but it had something to do with the clubhouse being divided between Grace & Sosa. It may or may not be true, but I have heard that more than once.
