Worth the $$$

I bought OOTP 2006 last year at this time and spent about 2 weeks playing it before I got completely frustrated with the glitches and the difficulty of the interface. While I loved the potential of the game -- it's exactly what I'm looking for out of a baseball sim -- I pretty much gave up on the game and haven't touched it since last summer.

So what I'm getting at is:

Is OOTP 2007 so much better than 2006 that I should drop more money on the new version? Or, should I just download all the patches for 2006 and stick with that?

I would also say, try the demo if you haven't already. It gives you 21 days, if you are still playing it by then than it would be a week longer then you played last years version. You could read all you want, but the only gauge for you would be to try it out.

Simply put, for me at least, I find that this version is closer to the "beloved" 6.5, and put a lot of the "FUN" back in the game for me again.

If I was you, I would d/l the game, and try it instead of trying to get opinions. Yours will be the most important. Try it, come back say this weekend, ask some questions, go back try it some more, come back in a week and ask a few more.. and then tell us what you think.

No one can tell you how to think, only you can make the decision to play or not. And without d/ling the demo, all you do is run in circles. Believe me. Try it , you won't regret it.

Good Luck.

Most of the responses you will probably get now will be positive, just for the fact that the people who are on the board now, so far after release probably have good feelings towards the game.

Also if you compare the tone of the board for this version compared to last years you will see the difference. Much of last years was very negative in nature, and many of the loudest critics were really impressed by this version.

Also, try the demo

Just to add my , it seemed to me that even just after game release, the reactions were overwhelmingly positive. For example, see this thread titled "Rate OOTP" that began just after game release and ran for almost two weeks (a long time on these boards):

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=143182

376 members voted in that poll, and 85% rated the game as Good or Excellent. True, many of those members have gone "on vacation" now but they left the boards happy.

Which in turn impressed the heck out of me. I can think of a few in particular . . . Well, that's old news. The important thing is, this game is well "Worth the $$$" in my opinion.

Short answer: YES!

Demo suggestions in this thread are sound. That's the best avenue to make your own determination.
