There's a place in game setup (I think) where you can select how often talent changes occur. I just went looking for it and couldn't find it, but I've seen it before. It ranges from twice as often as normal down to not at all.
My original question was, how often is 'normal'? I'd like for talent changes to happen no more often than maybe once during a season and once during the offseason, so where would I have to set the slider to achieve that? My new question is, where do I find this slider? I would think it would be near 'turn development on/off', but I couldn't find that, either. |

It says randomness on the tab but the help/manual clearly says frequency.

Thank you, RchW. That covers where the thing's found.
Now, does anyone have an idea how often talent 'normally' changes? |

My impression, from reading Getch's comments in this thread:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar....php?p=2197169 is that there may be small changes, partly based on player personality ratings, and also large changes- talent boosts and hits. At least, Getch had deduced that factors like 'work ethic' were contributing to small talent shifts from observing game play (see his comments; I don't want to misrepresent what he said). I'm sure you've thought of this, but could you try turning on 'Report all player talent changes' in the 'Player and Picture Options', to see how frequent changes are? I've never used the feature, but I imagine this would be the best way to get an estimate of talent change frequency. |

dola,
And beorn mentions at the bottom of the same thread that talent change frequency is correlated with age; 18 year olds see more frequent talent changes than mid-career players, which seems to be, at least in part, how the game models risk and upside. |

1) My machine won't sim. It plays one day, then stops. This suits my normal micromanaging style of play beautifully, but means I'm not able to do sample runs to test things. 2) I have no idea how to do things like import, export, run a spreadsheet, or any of the other handy little things that could tell me that the 6000 players (plus free agents) in my universe had 15,000 talent bumps in one year. I had seen getch's thread, but missed the bit about younger players getting more frequent bumps, which makes perfect sense. Thank you. |
