1898 WC HOF Ballot
Once again just a single fighter on the ballot after Joe Choynski's slapdown last year.
In a tough era, Mitchell was consistent if not stellar, going to the World Cup in each of the 9 years (1890-1898) it was held during his career and reaching the final four 3 times, a tough, steady fighter who was always considered a test. Holds wins over both current Hall of Fame inductees. 1898 Ballot Young Mitchell: 1888 - 1898 1st year on ballot Record: 50-11-1 (35) World Cups: 9 Final Fours: 3 WC Championships: 0 Notable wins: Hank Griffin UD10, Jack NP Dempsey UD10, George LaBlanche UD10, Bob Fitzsimmons TKO10, Joe Choynski KO 4 Notable Losses: Bob Fitzsimmons TKO3, Jack NP Dempsey UD10, James Corbett UD10, Peter Jackson UD10, KO4, Harry Peppers UD10 |

Another year with no inductee, tough crowd this one. My vote was probably more sentimental than deserved, but he always put on a good fight.
So we now bid Mitchell adieu |
